The AWR regulations, designed to give agency workers the same ‘basic’ working and employment conditions as comparable permanent employees, have come into enforcement in the recruitment sector. We’ve put together a fast, integrated and easy to use system to help McGinley see which of their employees will apply to the new rules.

Having worked with high profile clients across the construction industry, we took our market knowledge and applied it to the new product page design for the IQ Glass website. Qualitative research was especially useful in determining the layout, iconography and visual contrast that would maximise prospect temptation. The new layout showcases the IQ Glass product in the most effective environment possible.

IE automatic updating announcement means HTML5 for all!
View Comments | Posted by andy in General at 12:43 pm
Does the recent automatic browser update announcement by Microsoft spell the end for ancient web browsers such as IE 6 and IE7?
Shockingly, over 10% of Internet Explorer users are still using IE6, a browser which first hit our computers in August 2001.
A further 15% of IE users are still using iteration 7 (first available in 2003) of the Internet Explorer series.
However, from now on, computers running Windows XP and above will have their browsers automatically and irreversibly update. Computers running XP will get updated to IE8 whilst computers running Windows Vista and above will be updated to IE9.
Microsoft are famous for their soft approach when it comes to forcing their users to upgrade to the latest versions of their products. With experts recently predicting that 71% of internet users will be using Google Chrome by 2013, this announcement signals a strong statement of intent from the company as they look to once again compete with Google whilst also staving off strong challenges from browsers such as Firefox, Safari, and Opera.
It is a well known fact that older browsers such as IE 6 & IE 7 are harmful to both the consumer and the advancement of the World Wide Web, not to mention the abundance of security issues that these browsers have.
Whilst this is obviously an important step for Microsoft, it is also a victory for the web design world, which will now not be held back by non HTML5 operating web browsers.
At Chris Curd Design, we make sure that our websites look the part across all browsers, no matter their age.
We support the recent announcement by Microsoft to automatically update users’ browsers and we look forward to working with IE10, the next version of Internet Explorer, which is currently under development by Microsoft.
